Crow_Sourcing

How does the crow fly? Eager beaver, take the bull by the horns. Talk turkey and get on your high horse. Andy Deck's Crow Sourcing engages collective memory and insight to demystify and reanimate a dizzying array of sayings, idioms, and expressions that have been discussed and collected via Web, mobile, and social media through 2012. Deck seeks a cultural break from the modernization of passive consumerism. His work demonstrates new patterns of participation and control that distinguish online presence and representation from previous artistic practices.

Awkward_NYC/Awkward Everywhere

Anyone can add a story to Zannah Marsh's map for reporting social accidents and small interpersonal traumas that occur unexpectedly in public spaces. It pinpoints sites in the New York metropolitan area or anywhere in the world where misunderstandings, outbursts, physical altercations, arguments between friends or strangers, and romantic spats or break-ups have occurred. As stories are added to the map, a series of data visualizations depicting the emotional terrain of various cities will be generated.

The event will be streamed live at: www.livestream.com/harvestworks

Following their presentations, the artists will participate in a discussion with the audience. There will be a reception with food and drink.
