Arctic Sea Ice Melting Extraordinarily Fast
Revised estimates suggest that summer sea ice in the Arctic may disappear as early as the summer of 2012, twenty-eight years sooner than was projected recently. What happens in the Arctic has implications for the rest of the world. Faster melting there means eventual sea level rise and more immediate changes in winter weather because of less sea ice.
